WNY AmeriCorps & Hands on
Greater Buffalo teamed
up with Faces of Buffalo Community Art Mosaics to create
colorful mosaics representing non-violence!
Each Peace Mosaic is made from self portraits and non-violence images drawn by people of the community
- OVER 4,000 images! Up close you
see thousands of 'Faces of Service' and peace invoking images;
from a distance you see a portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
and a special Peace Mosaic Dove representing participant's commitment to non-violence.
It's a special interactive project designed to unite our diverse
community in non-violent activity and spread awareness of peace. A
large mosaic print was unveiled on Martin Luther King Day - Jan
21, 2008 at
The Bob Lanier Center in Buffalo, NY 14215.
The second mosaic was created in remembrence of peace beginning on
the date of the assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in
April.
