TRADE SMOKING FOR LIFE!is the anti smoking initiative
of the Faces of Wellness Project. It's an interactive community art project
designed to increase awareness of life affirming activities in an
effort to promote wellness
above smoking.
Each day has its moments where people, both smokers and non-smokers,
turn away from tobacco in favor of embracing life. Our days are filled
with tons of choices. It's exciting and fast paced at times. We find
ourselves engaged in so many different activities, some of which we
are conscious,
others out of habit or reaction -so we don't always connect
consciously to what we would call 'life affirming activities' each
day.
While you may not prefer all the things that happen in your day, I
trust you do participate in what you believe are 'healthy' activities.
In reviewing ourselves and our activities we might find that some of
these actions seem to actually energize and inspire us. We all
have activities we place above others, ones that for us define a
higher expression of life and lead to mostly positive outcomes.
Listing and sharing these life affirming activities can be
uplifting and encouraging for us and others- especially if deep
down we sense that they REALLY ARE healthy and positive activities.
"Trade smoking for Life!" is a nationally
targeted interactive art project based
on the work of Buffalo, New York's local Faces of Buffalo Community Art Mosaics. Its
aim is to devalue the activity of smoking by increasing awareness of
life affirming activities. Through a short questionnaire and colorful artwork we'll produce
unique mosaics and selected writings that embrace our community and
celebrate activities that we really enjoy in our lives.
By answering just a few questions below YOU will easily make this
project a
success. There is no cost involved to participate. It takes just a few
minutes to provide your 'life affirming activities' from which
schools and organizations will create colorful drawings. Those images
will be united into special mosaics. Up close we'll see each drawing;
from a distance they will
all combine to form a single mosaic image!
